The legend of the Istanbul Foundation

Tunnels under Istanbul

According to the legend, it is thought that Istanbul is covered with interconnected tunnels and these tunnels can be accessed from a secret room in the Basilica Palace, and these tunnels, which continue under the Marmara Sea, extend to Kınalıada.

The Legend of Virgo

Legend has it that the king was stung by a snake when his daughter, beloved by prophecy, turned 18. The king, who wants to protect his beloved daughter more than anything, fixes the tower in the middle of the sea and places his daughter here. Staying away from her daughter hurts her, but she takes it for her daughter’s safety.

But when the girl turns eighteen, the prophecy is fulfilled, and among the food sent to the tower, a snake princess emerges from the grape basket and causes her death by poisoning.

The legend of Suleymaniye Mosque

Mimar Sinan, who laid the foundations of the Süleymaniye Complex, stopped all construction and waited a year for the foundation to solidify and strengthen. Shah Tahmasp al-Safavi, who received the news that the construction was halted, wanted to embarrass Suleiman the Magnificent, who saw him as a rival, and sent a box full of treasures to the Sultan so that the construction could be completed.

However, according to legend, Sultan Süleyman, very angry with what the Shah had done, ordered Mimar Sinan to do what he needed and added this treasure sent to Mimar Sinan to a powder in front of the Safavid ambassador and added it to the Mortar of Süleymaniye.

Hagia Sophia legend

It is said that the young man who came to Emperor Justinianus after the money left during the assembly of the dome, which was completed up to the dome during the construction of Hagia Sophia, asked the emperor to give as many mules as possible:
