The “Kimsuky” group, consisting of North Korean hackers, has now launched a cyberattack on South Korean politicians.
The group was discovered to be secretly monitoring the emails and stealing private info of many politicians, together with former South Korean ministers and deputy ministers, in 2022.
It was said that the hacker group despatched these individuals deceptive e-mails to redirect them to faux websites in April-July 2022 and adopted them concurrently for 4 to 9 months.
Cryptocurrencies are additionally stolen by the identical band.
The Seoul authorities unilaterally imposed sanctions on the Kimsuky group on June 2. The report, printed by Google’s cybersecurity unit Mandiant, revealed that Kimsuky stole cryptocurrencies to finance espionage operations associated to North Korea’s nuclear program.
It was said that hackers laundered stolen cryptocurrencies via cloud mining companies.
