What is Callus? How Is It Created?

Calluses are hardened areas of the skin, the protective layer of the skin, and cause thickening due to abrasion.

Some types of calluses may also contain liquid substances such as pus, but it is often seen as a disproportionate hardener to the skin.
Hardening of the skin is a reaction of the skin to damage. This reaction continues, causing painful calluses as the abrasion continues.
Calluses are usually seen in the foot area. The reason for this situation; This is because the feet are the weight-bearing organ of the body.

What is Callus?

Callus, which means that dead skin cells form a keratin layer and manifest for different reasons, can sometimes cause serious pain for people.
Trying to remove the callus by cutting it can get worse and become infected. In the treatment, the factors causing callus are eliminated first.
How is corn formed?
The reasons for callus formation are that the skin wants to be protected against external factors as a result of pressure occurring in any area. It has been observed that calluses are mostly caused by shoes that do not stand up or hit the feet.
However, in some cases, existing foot deformation causes the foot to step incorrectly, and the result of this is manifested by the formation of callus in the foot.

How are calluses treated?
For the treatment of calluses, it is important to keep the damaged area organized. When thickening is seen in an area of the skin, further irritation of that area should be avoided.
Since this discomfort occurs especially in the foot area, it is sufficient for daily care to remove the thickened area from the dead skin with pumice stone and to soften it with moisturizing creams and prevent callus deepening.
How is Callus Treated?
Drugs that can be found in pharmacies can be preferred if they cannot be taken with simple care interventions.
Some of these medications are in the form of a patch and applied to the callus and remove the callus when removed after the required time, but it is quite painful.
Another treatment method is liquid medications containing strong chemicals. Hand and eye contact with these drugs is harmful to health.
This drug is applied only in small amounts on the callus, it provides output within 5-7 days within the callus. It is less painful than tape application.
Since callus formation is a process that can be noticed from the very beginning, calluses should be treated before they deepen without regular treatment.
