The new President of the nation was elected in the voting held in the Meeting of Kosovo.

In the third spherical of voting in the parliament, Vjosa Osmani, with 71 votes, turned the new President of Kosovo.

MAJORITY FAILED IN THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS

Whereas 82 out of 120 deputies participated in the voting, the required two-thirds majority for elections couldn’t be obtained in the first and second rounds.

Osmani’s rival, Nasuf Bejta, didn’t obtain any votes in the elections, and 11 votes had been deemed invalid.

If the presidential election had not been held in the final spherical, early elections would have come to the fore in the nation. Osmani turned Kosovo’s fifth president since the nation declared independence in 2008.
