Hackers stole 80GB of data from Reddit systems


The hacker group BlackCat says that in February, Reddit attacked their systems and stole 80GB of data.


BlackCat hacker group introduced in a put up on the darkweb that they hacked into Reddit’s systems in February and stole 80GB of compressed data.

The hackers are asking the platform to surrender $4.5 million in money and the API choice, which is the main target of the controversy.

Reddit spokesperson Gina Antonini acknowledged that BlackCat has no proof that non-public consumer data similar to firm passwords and accounts have been stolen.

BlackCat introduced that though it tried to satisfy with Reddit on April 13 and June 16, it didn’t obtain any response.

API discussions develop

The factor that triggered the response of the hackers was the API choice taken by Reddit within the final days.

Reddit has introduced that it’s going to begin charging usage-based charges for entry by third-party software program.

Standard third-party Reddit apps like Apollo needed to pay the corporate $20 million. Many of these packages have been closed as a result of they didn’t have the means to cowl the associated fee.
