6.9 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Australia


The US Geological Survey (USGS) introduced that the epicenter of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in the Pacific Ocean was roughly 1062 kilometers southwest of Bluff port on the south coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

Tsunami warning issued

After the earthquake that occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, a tsunami warning was issued.

Authorities didn’t report any loss of life or property from the earthquake and tsunami.

The warning in query was lifted at 22:00 native time.

Macquarie Island is situated 1,600 kilometers southeast of Tasmania, virtually midway between New Zealand and Antarctica.
