Scientists have been debating the reason for the extinction of the woolly mammoth for years. A team from the Max Planck Society of Institutes recently concluded that climate change is driving the mammoths in North America to extinction. The simulations also showed that some mammoth populations remained in areas that humans had not yet discovered at that time for longer than thought. The researchers then eliminated the predator human factor and discovered that most mammoths survived for another four thousand years.
