UN Security Council recommends Gutteres for second term

The UN Security Council has accepted the second term of the present Secretary-Normal, Antonio Guterres.

In a vote within the council, the members unanimously really helpful that Guterres proceed in his second term.

The present chairman of the council, Ambassador Sven Jurgenson to Estonia, acknowledged that through the closed session, the Security Council unanimously determined to suggest to the Normal Meeting that Guterres be given one other term.


Guterres, 72, the previous prime minister of Portugal, has been the UN Secretary-Normal since 2017. Whereas about 10 extra folks aspire to the Normal Secretariat, not one of the 193 members may formally change into candidates as a result of they didn’t approve of the folks in query.

The voting, which is predicted to be held on the Normal Meeting, is predicted to be a formality and to be held quickly.
