Statement from the European Parliament on Afghan women and girls


Evelyn Regner, Chair of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality of the European Parliament (EP), made a written assertion about the Taliban’s seize of Kabul in Afghanistan.

IT WAS STATED THAT WOMEN AND GIRLS ARE PRIORITY

In the assertion, it was said that the security of Afghan women and girls needs to be the foremost precedence of the European Union (EU).

“GIRLS’ ACCESS TO EDUCATION IS DENIED”

Emphasizing that the Taliban’s seize of Kabul means systematic and brutal oppression for women and girls in all points of life, the assertion stated. “Women’s universities are closed in Taliban-controlled areas. Girls are denied entry to schooling and women are bought as intercourse slaves.” assertion was included.

In the assertion, “We should not flip a blind eye to a humanitarian disaster that can have an effect on women and girls in Afghanistan. EU member states should work collectively to make sure the protected exit of all these in misery. All future negotiations should guarantee the security and well-being of Afghan women and girls.” expressions have been used.

EU international ministers will maintain a unprecedented video convention assembly tomorrow with the Afghanistan agenda.
