Many international locations in the world are rising their investments in renewable energy sources. Not too long ago, international locations have set their sights on space.
Whereas China continues to work to set up the first solar-powered station in space, Japan is engaged on the challenge to set up photo voltaic panels in space.
Energy obtained from space for the first time
Scientists from the California Institute of Expertise in the USA succeeded in beaming photo voltaic energy captured in space to Earth for the first time.
The feat was achieved thanks to a tool referred to as MAPLE, which was launched into orbit in January and used to acquire and replicate photo voltaic energy.
In the closing experiment, MAPLE’s transmitter array beamed photo voltaic energy collected in space through microwaves to a receiver positioned on the roof of the Gordon and Betty Moore Engineering Laboratory on the institute’s campus.
Efforts to wirelessly transmit photo voltaic energy from space may have revolutionary implications for renewable energy and, specifically, the widespread use of photo voltaic energy.
Japan, for instance, plans to begin utilizing space-transmitted photo voltaic energy by the mid-2030s.
