In July final 12 months, pirates attacked a Turkish ship off the coast of Nigeria and kidnapped 10 of the 18 Turkish crew for ransom. The kidnapped sailors had been rescued by the operation of the Nigerian safety forces and handed over to the Turkish Embassy in Abuja.
