Nyiragongo, Africa’s most active volcano, erupts in Congo


An eruption occurred at Nyiragongo volcano in the Democratic Republic of Congo, one among Africa’s most active volcanoes.

After the explosion, evacuation works began in the town of Goma with a inhabitants of 1.5 million in danger.

The locals headed for the Rwandan border with their belongings.

The UN Peacekeeping Power in the area mediates the civilians to depart the town.

THE SKY IS PAINTED RED

Because the sky was painted purple with the explosion, Congo authorities spokesman Patrick Muyaya stated in a press release on his social media account, “The federal government is intently monitoring the state of affairs in Goma” stated.

250 PEOPLE DIE IN THE EXPLOSION IN 2002

Nyiragongo, which final exploded in 2002, killed 250 individuals and left 120,000 individuals homeless in Goma.
