Minerals sprayed from hydrothermal chimneys have created structures with a diameter of 15 meters and a height of 23 meters. These mineral structures are home to both deep sea creatures.
Researchers have also discovered new species in hydrothermal vents, unexpectedly discovered. In addition to symbiotic bacteria feeding on sulfur in the legs, unprecedented purple-colored microbial creatures were discovered.
The team’s next work will be to examine the structure of newly discovered creatures and their differences from other creatures of the same species. The researchers will also examine the components of the fluid exiting hydrothermal vents.
